The soft winds were chilly but soothing. The rays of the setting sun fallen on the tree tops looked like the moonlight trying to take over before the sun went to rest.
The beautiful evening looked perfect to settle down to read a book or newspaper. You could easily get absorbed into your reading and there was no disturbance whatsoever. Once in a while I took a break from reading to look at the sky above me. Clouds are scattered here and there and the sun’s weary rays were
reflected on them. “These January afternoons are so lovely and enticing” I thought.
Today being one such lovely afternoon I settled in my chair hoping to do my usual reading. I finished reading a few leaves of my book.
Cheek…chick…cheek….
Faintish chirpy cries of birds drew my attention. I looked at the sky. A flock of some tiny birds were busily flying about while enjoying the glimpse of the setting sun rays. I felt they were getting drifted away by the moving air. There were seven of them flying in a pattern. They flew in a single row, then diagonal, making their little wings flap so fast. One or two of the birds would break the pattern once in a while. However, the birds got back to their drill of flying soon. The little birds were enjoying themselves and It was such an interesting thing to watch.
Far away in the sky I spotted another flock of birds. They flew across the sky and over the tree tops. I guess they flew towards the western sky. Fluffy and plump sparrows were noisy and enjoying the evening too. About eight
of them sat on the iron fence which provided right round protection to the open area I sat . The sparrows seem to be in a conference together exchanging ideas.
Some moments after keeping company with me all birds flew away. They would have flown back to their nests or resting places.
Still there was so much light and darkness was yet to fall. The trees moved again and with it came the cooling soft breeze. I turned the next leaf of my book and started to read again.
